In the
Spring, Summer and Autumn, the Courtyard and Patio areas are a happy place
for people to meet for good food, conversation, and to relax.
During the winter months, the snow and ice connote a frozen serenity.
This area contains the original Civil War fountain, which adorned the Lititz Square.
It was acquired and restored by the Inn, to become the focal point of the
Courtyard.
Many local artists have come to paint this Courtyard scene, as the images are original and very unique. A new addition (May, 2002) to this beautiful
area, is a hand carved statue of General Sutter from an original tree which
had to be cut. Click the photo for full size.
2004 brought a new addition to the Inn Courtyard. Facing the Inn near Main Street is a carved statue of John Sutter's partner James Marshall. Click the small image for a full sized photo along with a closeup of the plaque which tells his story.
As weather
permits, the Ballroom doors may be opened, which creates a truly enchanting
atmosphere.
