The Courtyard

In the Spring, Summer and Autumn, you won't find a more welcoming atmosphere than our newly renovated beautiful brick Patio to meet for good food, conversation, and to just plain relax.

The patio contains the original Civil War fountain, which once adorned the downtown Lititz Square. It was acquired and restored by the Inn, and has become the focal point of the Patio.

Many local artists have come to paint the General Sutter Inn Patio scene, as the atmosphere and images are original and very unique. A hand-carved statue of General John Augustus Sutter (added in May, 2002) graces the edge of the Patio, carved from an original tree which had to be removed. Click the photo for full size.

In 2004 a hand-carved statue of General Sutter's partner James Marshall was added to the Patio and now sits along the tree line. Click the small image for a full sized photo along with a close-up of the plaque which tells his story
